At One With Nature…

The TRVM Lighting range mixes traditional forms with a pared down contemporary feeling. Timber is the primary material – in raw finishes that evoke a warm casual ambience.

This distinctive range of pendant lights, large feature chandeliers, and floor and table lamps are mainly handcrafted – using traditional wood working techniques such as the bentwood method, timber turning and hand carving.

TRVM are also acutely aware of their impact on the environment. Their product range is constructed using timber sourced from managed tree plantations. The timbers are FSC (Forest Stewardship Certified) or plantation species from various sources.

New designs are arriving next month. To view them, and the entire range, visit their website, trvm.com.au

WIN a ticket to the `DESIGNING ON AN EPIC SCALE’ seminar with Beau McClellan

Beau McClellan is an artist and designer with a passion for lighting design. Whether producing show-stopping and extraordinary light installations as special commissions, or accessible product ranges such as his multi-award winning branded collection, Beau is a creative force with an unbounded enthusiasm for his medium.

Beau’s successful artistic career has been diverse. His early and enduring accomplishments were as a sculptor, utilising artist blacksmithing techniques and mastering physically demanding craft processes to create bold, original art works.

Yet Beau’s insatiable creativity has also led to commissions in film, set design, music and advertising. When a chance commission to create an artwork involving illumination came along in 2000, Beau threw himself into researching the world of lighting design. What he found – an emotive, exciting and expressive medium – changed his perspective forever.

Beau has since produced many accomplished, innovative and exclusive lighting sculptures and installations for private clients. This is his ‘Signature’ collection, where his artistic inclination and flair is most clearly displayed. With a desire to reach a broader market and further explore the technical innovations for which he quickly became recognised, Beau developed his first commercial collection.

Originally designed for one of Europe’s most respected lighting manufacturers; Brumberg Lighting, the range made Beau’s aesthetic widely accessible for the first time whilst receiving four Red Dot Design Awards on its market launch. The current, and much expanded lighting collection is now wholly manufactured by Beau McClellan Design. His method of working is refreshing and reflective of his artistic background; he is dedicated, absorbed and passionate about each new project. Inspiration, he says, can strike anywhere.

Everyday observations such as reflections in a car window or light refracting onto mirrored surfaces can be enough to provoke a new work or collection. Prototypes are made using whatever is to hand, as Beau’s sculptural instincts dictate. An often long and intense period of development will follow, during which Beau works alongside a dedicated team of designers to refine the technical details of his designs.

Being at the very forefront of lighting innovation (including working with the highest grade LEDs), creating an aesthetic that bridges the expanse between art commissions and commercial product and an uncompromising dedication to quality, defines Beau McClellan’s ambitions.

Beau continues to produce original, illuminating art works for projects in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific for a selection of discerning
international clients. He is currently creating new ranges of Beau McClellan products from his pioneering design studio in Portugal.
